Ducks finish off undefeated weekend in Los Angeles

ANAHEIM, CA—Dan Effinger’s first career goal late in the second period proved to be the difference as the Ducks defeated College of the Canyons in Valencia, California on Saturday. The big win capped off the Duck’s strongest weekend yet after beating the USC Trojans on  both Thursday and Friday Nights.

The Duck’s second game versus USC was a grind, and despite dramatically out-shooting the Trojans and dictating nearly every play they found themselves down 1 to 0 entering the 3rd period. Midway through the period, Chris Campbell finally found the back of the net and the Ducks never looked back. Garrett Roberts netted the game winner soon after before the Ducks added two insurance goals late in the 3rd period. Senior Kyle Adamson looked great in net for his 4th victory of the season.

The comeback was not new for this edition of the Ducks, as they have previously overcome one goal deficits to find wins vs. both UCLA and Washington.

College of the Canyons played one of the strongest games the Ducks have seen this season, but the Oregon defense led the offensive charge. Defensemen Matt Hanlon, Dan Effinger, and Dan Sulitzer all scored goals and Danny Cockriel earned his second win of the weekend with a stellar performance in net. The Ducks will head to Bellingham, Washington next weekend for two out of conference games vs. the Western Washington Vikings.

Garrett Roberts and AJ Bernhardt celebrate Robert’s 3rd period game winner vs USC on Friday.
