Sun Devils Down Ducks with 7-0 Win
EUGENE — Saturday night saw the Arizona State Sun Devils once again come out the victors over the Oregon Ducks after netting seven unanswered goals to win 7-0.
Matters initially appeared to be going well, as Ducks goaltender Ben Green stopped all 14 shots on goal throughout the opening frame. Oregon had 12 shots of their own, but both clubs would head into the intermission deadlocked at 0-0.
Unfortunately for the Ducks, the game would go south from there. Just 44 seconds into the second period, Aaron Burden scored the first of his four goals, and the onslaught did not stop. Arizona State notched four tallies that period and added another three in the third for good measure, including one on a 5-on-3 man-advantage.
Oregon’s penalty kill was in fine form, however, allowing just one goal on Arizona State’s six attempts.
Green saved 42 of the 49 shots he faced, while opposing netminder Mark Becica turned aside all 31.
The Ducks head out on a road swing that will take them to the University of Washington, Santa Rosa Junior College and Washington State. Their next home game will be Dec. 1 against Gonzaga at 9:15 p.m. at The Rink Exchange. Tickets will be available at the door.
