Oregon vs. Long Beach State Game 1 [11/15/19]

EUGENE - After splitting their series against Boise State in Idaho, the 8th ranked Oregon Ducks were back home for two non-conference games against Long Beach State. In a high scoring affair, the Ducks took game one, winning 7-5 behind Connor Rendell’s four goal night.
The Ducks came out strong in the first, throwing everything on the net. They finally got rewarded with 3 minutes left as Connor Rendell buried a wrist shot goal from a sharp angle to start the scoring (3:14 assisted by Warren Berg). Doing his part in net, junior goalie Travis Green stood tall, stopping everything in the first.
On a delayed penalty in the 2nd the Ducks struck again. Connor Rendell one timed a beautiful pass from Trevor Shott (15:31 assisted by Trevor Shott and Jack Geraghty). On the ensuing power play the Ducks took advantage, making it 3-0 off a rebound goal from Kirt Fortney (14:45 assisted by Andrew Lee and Austin Charnholm).
Down 3-0, Long Beach State knew how big the next couple goals would be. Back to back penalties by the Ducks gave the 49ers a golden chance to climb back into the game. They did just that making it 3-2 going into the 3rd.
It was all Oregon in the 3rd however, scoring just 21 seconds in off a deflection from Trevor Shott (19:39 assisted by Warren Berg and Andrew Lee). Connor Rendell would follow, bearing home a rebound for the hat trick (15:55 assisted by Warren Berg and Andrew Lee).
Shott and Rendell would each get one more to top off their big nights on the stat sheet. The 49ers didn’t go away netting two more late goals but it wasn’t enough as Oregon won 7-5.
