Eight Different Ducks Score in 8-1 Win

SEATTLE, Wash. -- A brand new Kraken Community Iceplex filled with rowdy Washington fans set the stage for game one of the I-5 Cup. Despite missing seven guys, The Ducks (8-0-0) got goals from eight different players to beat The Huskies (5-2-0) 8-1.

 

1st Period

 

Austin Charnholm would start things off, burying a rebound from the point to make it 1-0 (5:44 assisted by Seth Plat).

 

Lars Kroes forechecked hard and got the puck out to Tobin Fix crashing the next to make it 2-0 (15:10 assisted by Lars Kroes).

 

Just 7 seconds later, yes 7, Connor Rendell would march right back down the ice and find Kirt Fortney in front to make 3-0 (18:26 assisted by Connor Rendell).

 

2nd Period

 

About halfway through the game, the chippy play between longtime rivals began to heat up. The Ducks would be the ones to take advantage, getting a goal from Charlie Maher to make it 4-0 (07:53 assisted by Tobin Fix).

 

Austin Pultz proved throwing pucks on net never hurts, scoring from a deep and sharp angle to make it 5-0 (16:26 assisted by Charlie Maher).

 

3rd Period

 

The powerplay got on the board to start the 3rd. Lars Kroes redirected one in to make it 6-0 (01:36 assisted by Kirt Fortney and Nick Slayton).

 

Seth Platt would follow, cleaning up a broken 2 on 1 to make it 7-0 (14:50 assisted by Nick Slayton).

 

Nick Slayton got the final marker, walking around two defenders in the offensive zone and finishing it short side (16:11 assisted by Tobin Fix and Charlie Marr).

 

Rodney Peterson made 24 saves in net.
