Eugene, Oregon. -- After 12 games on the road, the Ducks (12-4-0) were back in Eugene to take on Western Washington University (7-10-0). Six goals in the second period helped lead to an impressive 10-1 win.
1st
The opening period would give light to the final score as the Ducks dominated the time on attack in Western Washington's zone.
It was only a matter of time when Connor Rendell got the scoring party going about halfway through the period (11:22 assisted by Kirt Fortney and Austin Pultz).
Local forward Griffin Minchin would follow, finding himself alone in front for a rebound goal to make it 2-0 (18:30 assisted by Charlie Maher and Austin Pultz).
2nd
The Ducks picked up right where they left off in the second, as Isaiah Strategos scored a rebound goal of his own to make it 3-0 (0:33 assisted by Seth Platt and Hunter Voyles).
Forward Liam Baird would score a defenseman-style goal from the point to make it 4-0 (5:00 assisted by Jimmy Gagan and Nick Slayton).
Connor Rendell and Kirt Fortney switched their usual roles when Rendell hit Fortney with a saucer pass who finished on his backhand to go up 5-0 (5:36 assisted by Connor Rendell and Charlie Maher).
A 5 minute major for a Washington player spearing someone on the Duck’s bench would lead to two power-play goals from Austin Pultz (13:24 assisted by Kirt Fortney and Hunter Voyles) and Jimmy Gagan (13:56 assisted by Austin Charnholm and Nick Slayton).
Nick Slayton went top shelf on his backhand to make it 8-1 through 40 minutes of play (18:53).
3rd
Seniors Connor Rendell (14:23 assisted by Kirt Fortney) and Austin Charnholm (15:46 assisted by Dominik Estrada and Jack Rogaski) scored in the third to give the Ducks double digits.
Senior goalie Travis Green was back in net and got his 2nd win of the season.
